Despite shelves full of temptation, we don't get much reading done here in the bookstore. What do we do all day?

Up Front

Usually at least two of us are out front to help you find books and complete your purchases. Sometimes we're taking special orders over the phone, and almost every day we receive shipments of books that must be checked into our computer system and put on the shelves. A few times a year, books that haven't found an owner must be pulled, removed from the inventory system, and returned to the publishers. Of course, shelves must be straightened and the windows and shelves of new releases must be refreshed. And we must rearrange the store before and after in-store events.

Behind the Scenes

The office in back is busy as well. That's where publishers' reps show us what's coming in future seasons; it's where Annie places orders several times a week; it's where Dan coordinates school orders and Jane manages our popular sideline items and cards; it's where Patience keeps the books and manages consignment; it's where Dan produces promotional artwork for events and plays our interior designer;and it's where Leon manages children's book buying and events; and it's where Andy and Jennifer handle online communications and social media for the store. 

Who's Who

You've met the owners: Annie, who specializes in adult titles, is the adult buyer of front and backlist, and coordinates all the events; and Patience, who manages the business side of the operation. Depending on the day and time of day, you may be assisted by Andy, Dan, Jennifer, Leon, Kat, Kelsey, or Tyler.   Kat is the weekend manager assisted by Leon on Saturdays, and Kelsey and Tyler over the weekend.

And of course, come meet our faithful mascot, Charlie Fourpaws, the store's cocker spaniel.
