Despite the heavy rainfall and high tide we are open today from 10-8.  The roads on the Stonington side of Mystic are currently flooded and impassable as s Pearl Street but the Groton side is clear. I had to take RT 95 and the Allyn Street exit to get here this morning.  The store is dry and warm so come pay a visit and find a good read to this rainy day. Wish it were snow!

Many people have been wondering how they can help the school, children, and families of those affected by the shooting in Newtown and many groups have been collecting teddy bears and school supplies. Here is another option for you.

Several CT children's book and YA authors are in preliminary discussions with the Newtown school district to bring healing all affected by the horrific event. We are working in conjunction with grief counselors and a school psychologist to teach students how to journal through their emotions. We are hoping that through writing these children find hope and a way of expressing their thoughts and emotions. We are asking for people to donate journals and inscribe their own encouraging words to the student recipient on the inside cover. All donations should be received by January 31st and please know we will send all journals directly to the Newtown school guidance department. We will keep you posted as to our progress.

Instructions:
1. All journals donated should be inscribed by the donor with a positive message.
(preferably, no spiral notebooks)
2. Lined journals for student 3rd grade and up.
3. Primary journals for younger students (half lined half blank for illustration)
4. Journals must be received by January 31st
