Bank Square Books presents the next workshop in our Self-Improvement Series with Richard H. Pfau, author of Your Behavior: Understanding and Changing The Things You Do.
About the Book
This book will help you to: (1) analyze your own behavior based on a comprehensive understanding of why you do the things you do, (2) change your behavior if you want to, and (3) better understand why others behave as they do. Based on an approach that will take you beyond the outdated thinking that dominates psychology today, Dr. Pfau unveils informative secrets about human behavior, including the techniques that others use to influence what you do, how automatically and routinely you behave in most situations, and why. Our body's structure and organization affect what we do and help us to survive. Learn how our body and the environment around us interact to affect what we perceive and how we behave. Knowing this will put you at the cutting-edge of science and human behavior and allow you to understand your behavior and change it.
About the Author
Richard H. Pfau has a longstanding interest in human behavior. He has researched, compared, and helped change behavior on national scales and extensively written about ways to more accurately measure what people do.
He also has a longstanding dissatisfaction with the state of psychology. Having a strong hard science background from previous studies in engineering, upon graduating with honors and a B.A. in psychology, he felt that psychology was still "in the Middle Ages." This dissatisfaction led him to join the Peace Corps to experience behavior in a different culture--eventually resulting in seven years of life and work within the Kingdom of Nepal and eleven years in Africa. His dissatisfaction of mainstream psychology continues to the present time and prompted him to produce the book Your Behavior --with the aim of not only improving psychology but also to widely inform others about a more up-to-date, scientific explanation of human behavior than those that dominate psychology today.
More formally, Dr. Pfau is a summa cum laude B.A. psychology graduate of the University of Baltimore who completed a Ph.D. focused on science education with straight A grades from the University of Pittsburgh. Nearly all of his professional work has involved helping people learn how to do things better and change their behavior as well as helping develop systems for doing so. He is a member of the American Psychological Association, American Psychological Society, American Association for the Advancement of Science, Control Systems Group, and the Connecticut Authors and Publishers Association. Having worked and taught in universities within the U.S.A., Nepal, Botswana, Lesotho, Swaziland, Uganda, and Namibia, he has a broad understanding of human behavior around the world.
