Join us at Bank Square Books in support of a humane event. October marks the national organization Alley Cat Allies’ annual Feral Cat Month. It promotes compassion and decency toward feral animals born to environments where the comfort afforded our domestic pets is absent. Nicholas Checker's novel Scratch was created on that basis and, as many readers have expressed, its chilling adventure portrays vividly the relations between animals and humans. It also reflects how human cultures too often misread one another.
So on October 17 at 1 p.m., Nicholas will perform a theatrical reading of a different nature than past presentations. This time Scratch’s “Hound of the Hill”—a most fascinating creature with much to say regarding humans—speaks out. Hope to see a good many of you there. (Free refreshments, too!)
