I am a Mountain
Author Ken Shuey will be at Bank Square Books on March 16 from 11 - 1pm for an in store book signing.
This children’s picture book illustrates the concept of Oneness through the introduction of many life forms that share our planet with us.
Ken was introduced to the concept of Oneness while studying books by Buddhist masters and Jon Kabat-Zinn. Inspired by these works, he wrote the lyrics to I Am A Mountain. In time, Ken felt a desire to share the concept of Oneness with children. He decided to simplify parts of his original poetry and created imagery to help illustrate this concept in a way that would reach children.
“This book speaks to a world that is very much alive with purpose and a world which personifies the beauty that we hold within ourselves,” commented Elisabeth Wilds, founder of A Brighter Light in the World® brand. “We were very impressed with Ken’s concept and were extremely pleased that he chose to publish under our brand. Ken’s prose combined with his art enables him to express a difficult concept in a very friendly and understandable way.”
Ken Shuey explains, “My intent for this book is to help young people begin to experience Oneness – the way it feels when one focuses on being the wonderful creative force of nature that we all are. I was inspired by the writings of many authors that have written about enlightened consciousness. We are fortunate in this day to be able to draw from the wisdom and traditions of so many diverse cultures. From the East, we have meditation techniques that bring us into the timelessness of our inner selves; and from the West, we have prayer that empowers us to realize our own creativity.”
“I Am A Mountain” illustrates the concept of Oneness through the introduction of many life forms that share our planet with us. We learn about the strength of mountains, the grace and fluidity of rivers, the love of dogs, and the hope and joy that rainbows spread after storms. As we begin to appreciate the beauty of the natural world, we are inspired to see that same beauty in ourselves, as well as all the amazing qualities we possess that are shared with the outside world. We learn that by choosing to embrace and develop these qualities, we can grow to our fullest potential, living in harmony with the spirit that unites us all.
“I hope that through this book, children will begin to see a reflection of their beautiful qualities in the world around them, enabling them to develop a deeper connection to that beauty and the spirit that unites us all.” commented Shuey.
