BSB: Lisa C. Taylor (Impossibly Small Spaces) and John Stanizzi (Four Bits) Reading and Signing

Bank Square Books presents a reading and book signing with Connecticut author Lisa C. Taylor for her new collection Impossibly Small Spaces and John Stanizzi for his new collection Four Bits. This event is free and open to the public.

Lisa C. Taylor, Impossibly Small Spaces

In Taylor’s second collection of short stories, a woman locks a man in an airplane bathroom, two brothers rewrite their past, and strangers in an airport are thrown together through tragedy. Taylor explores confinement and expansion with both humor and angst, as characters of all ages and backgrounds are continually forced to redefine their personal landscapes.

Lisa C. Taylor’s debut collection of short fiction, Growing a New Tail, was released in November. She’s the author of four collections of poetry, most recently Necessary Silence (2013). Another collection of poetry, The Other Side of Longing, is a collaboration with Irish writer Geraldine Mills. Lisa’s honors include the Hugo House New Works Award for short fiction, an L.L.Winship PEN New England nomination, Pushcart nominations in both fiction and poetry, a Best Indie Lit of New England nomination, and, along with Geraldine Mills, the Elizabeth Shanley Gerson Lecture of Irish Literature at University of Connecticut in 2011. Her books have been taught in college classes.

John Stanizzi, Four Bits
Four Bits is a clever collection of short pieces by a masterful poet and story-teller. In each of these fifty 50-word prose poems, John Stanizzi dazzles with his perception, humor, and story-telling. "Four Bits," a colloquial term meaning fifty cents, is worth much more than spare change. Humor, pathos, and insight into the human condition radiate from the poems in this collection.

John L. Stanizzi is the author of the chapbook, Windows. His full length collections are Ecstasy Among Ghosts, Sleepwalking, Dance Against the Wall Antrim House Books, and After the Bell, and Hallelujah Time!, Big Table Publishing Company. His poems have appeared in Prairie Schooner, The New York Quarterly, Tar River Poetry, Rattle, Passages North, The Spoon River Quarterly, Poet Lore, The Connecticut River Review, Freshwater, Boston Literary Review, and many other publications. He is currently an adjunct professor of English at Manchester Community College. John is currently at work on Hallelujah Time!—Volume II, the follow up to his recently released Hallelujah Time! He lives with his wife, Carol, in Coventry, Connecticut.
