SAVOY: Claremary Sweeney (Last Walk in the Park) Book Signing

Savoy Bookshop & Café presents a book signing with Claremary Sweeney for the book Last Walk in the Park

Last Walk in the Park CoverAbout the Book

Last Walk in The Park, the sixth book in the South County Mystery Series, centers around a group of fledgling mystery authors who meet at the Westerly Library to hone their craft under the guidance of Professor Ruth Eddleman. Ruth calls upon her friend Kara when she receives a cryptic phone call from one of the writers who then disappears. When his body is found under the frozen waters of Wilcox Park’s skating pond, they must try to unravel the clues left behind to find out if his death is connected to the spy novel he was trying to publish or to the work of one of the other mystery authors. And inevitably, everyone becomes a suspect.

The town of Westerly is steeped in history and provides wonderful settings for this latest SC Mystery. Each book features a different village or town and includes some historic background interwoven in the plots. There is a regular cast of characters who develop throughout the series and every book has its season always ending with a celebration in the final chapter.

About the Author

Claremary Sweeney is a local author of both children's books and the popular South County Mystery Series. While her children’s stories take place at historic sites in the Berkshires, her adult mysteries are filled with familiar settings, many of which are steeped in history. Sweeney has created memorable characters who reoccur within each installment. Detective Lieutenant Kara Langley along with her partner Detective Carl Sullivan, investigate crimes which tear at the fabric of tranquility in the villages along the coast of southern Rhode Island, the
Ocean State.

Sweeney is presently working on Last Step Beyond the Pall. At book talks, she is often asked if any of her characters are modeled after her. So, in this latest installment she is introducing a new character, Ms. Clementine Melville, a mystery writer who lives in a Victorian House in Wakefield with a secret bookcase door leading into the cellar and a garden of poisonous plants in her back garden. This should make her fans very happy.
