SAVOY: Poetry Reading with Elisabeth A. King (Warm from the Thicket)

Savoy Bookshop & Café presents a reading featuring Westerly poet Elisabeth A. King for her new collection Warm from the Thicket. This event is free and open to the public.

About the Book

Upon the death of her mother in October, 2013, Elisabeth King began relieving her journey through grief with writing. Each expression represents a day in the life of the healing process; some are joyful while others still weigh heavy on a weary soul. This book is a representation of raw emotion, reflection, motherhood, childhood and the belief that through darkness comes light. Through sadness comes solace. Through life comes all things and the process should be acknowledged and honored.

About the Author

Elisabeth King earned a BA in education and English language and literature from Gordon College. While a student at Gordon, she had the incredible opportunity to spend time closely studying English poets and poetry as she toured England, Cambridge, Stratford, York, Scotland, and the Lakes District. Ms. King then spent many years educating children, first as an elementary school educator and later a middle school English teacher.

Currently, she lives her life by the ocean in New England with her husband, Michael and four daughters: Emily, Hannah, Erika and Bella. It is here, in the small town of Westerly, where she draws inspiration for much of her writing.
