SAVOY: Westerly Memoir Project Reading

Growing up in Westerly ... coming of age in Westerly ... growing old in Westerly. Come hear students in the Westerly Memoir Project recount their personal stories of love, loss, heartbreak and triumph. At this event, followed by a reception, students from the Westerly Memoir Project memoir writing classes over the past three years read excerpts from their works in progress. Community members who are working on personal essay and memoir are also invited to read a maximum 5-minute excerpt. Readers accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. Contact Ethan Gilsdorf (ethan@ethangilsdorf.com) to sign up. Hosted by instructor Ethan Gilsdorf and Westerly Memoir Project co-chairs Jeannie Blasberg and Katie Porter. At the end of the event, Layng Martine, Jr., longtime Watch Hill resident and member of the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame,  will cap off the evening with a reading from his recently published memoir, Permission to Fly.
